Just to be on the safe side - have you tried shutting off javascript, and perhaps flash,
on those pages, and then reload? Have you any links to those pages?
Some programs allow you to block access to specific web adresses. I don't know enough
about this, but in that scenario you could stop the browser from trying to reach those ad
servers.
There is a special case that perhaps could be behind your problem: Standard is that the
browser shall not stop downloading until it has received information from the server that
all has been sent. It has been said that Microsoft has "simplified" that, so that the MS
IIS server for efficiency reasons does not send out such a message, and the MS Internet
Explorer for similar reasons takes it for granted that it can stop downloading in that
situation. An unholy alliance which cannot be handled by other browsers, because there is
nothing to tell whether it's a situation of low bandwidth or really everything sent.
