[OU] upgrade blues

I upgraded to 9.64. It won't let me log into Facebook, but
that's the least of my problems now. With the previous version,
video or audio files played on the web (e.g. youtube and
pupuplayer) were downloaded to the cache4 folder and stored
with .flv and .mp3 extensions respectively. Of course these were
temp files, but I moved them to other folders and renamed them
appropriately and was thus able to keep them. Now, however,
with this crappy 9.64 version, it's not downloading the files, at
least not with the useful extensions. I see a file with a useless
.adr extension (in the profile folder) with a time stamp about the
same as an audio file buffered from the pupuplayer site, but
Windows Media Player doesn't recognize .adr files. I also notice
that cache4 is gone altogether, seemingly replaced by cacheop.
I don't understand why this is happening, but if I can't get those
audio and video files in a playable format, this "upgrade" is
pointless. This is why I'm very leery of upgrades (in general, not
just Opera). This is not the first time something vital has been
lost.
Any suggestions? (I assume I'm not the only person saving those
files.)
