I don't want to subscribe because, in the past, I subscribed to hundreds
of rss feeds (audio/video) and Opera (disobediently, without first asking
permission, and with no way to stop it) would check them throughout the
day, a slow operation on dialup, monopolizing my processor, freezing
my browsing. (I set them to check once a day, and I guess Opera
clocked from what time of day I subscribed, to this one and that one).
I presume there's a separate rss program which is obedient (checking
when I say so and not otherwise), but I haven't investigated what it
might be.
Google Reader is hopeless, converting text into an image for no
reason I know about (they obviously have a reason), and that image
overwhelms my dialup and processor too. Pathetic. -CJ
