[OU] Waiting for user-confirmation of cookie(s)

Frequently now when I enter something in the search box in the address bar  
requiring Google to do a search I get the cryptic message "Waiting for  
user-confirmation of cookie(s)" and nothing loads. I have cookies enabled  
in preferences. If I enter Google in the normal address box the google  
search page loads and I can search from there.
Also I usually have many tabs open which re-open every time I start Opera.  
Sometimes when I start up I get a large message box saying  a server wants  
to set a cookie but the box is totally empty. It doesn't seem to matter if  
I tick yes or no.
