No, I don't know of any convenient way to do this from inside Opera. When  
I was still on dial-up I used Popcorn <URL:  
http://ultrafunk.com/products/popcorn/ > to see what was on the server  
before I told Opera to fetch mail. It was quick and easy to see really  
large messages (and spam) before downloading them and delete any that I  
didn't want to download.
