[OU] Dumb newbie questions

Welcome to Opera! I'd imagine that Opera can handle a lot of what you're asking for.

For the tab behavior, if I understand your request correctly this might fix it. Go to preferences > Advanced > Tabs, and uncheck "Reuse current tab."

For importing email I'm not 100% positive - I've always found importing and exporting email between programs to be a chore. I once read that going from Opera to Thunderbird was very easy and merely involved copying files over - it might be just as simple when doing it the other way. Have you tried Google for a solution on this? (Hopefully someone else on the list can help you here.)

HTML email composition is unsupported. I believe the developers had a reason for it, but I don't want to state untruths. As far as I know there are no plans to add it into any versions in the immediate future, but who knows - maybe farther down the road. You get used to it.

I believe it's possible to change the size of text alone, but when I saw your request I thought of zooming entirely. The command is command shift + and command shift - (just as a reminder, if you enable OSX's zoom feature, the commands are command alt + and command alt -). Using those commands will boost or lower the zoom by 100%. If you click on the glasses icon in the upper right (I believe this is the default layout) another menu bar should appear, including a box with a percentage. You can manually determine by what percentage the zoom should go from there. It won't adjust the text alone, though, it'll also zoom images. This isn't available in email - I'd recommend using Mac OS X's built-in zoom feature for that.

Lastly, I don't know of any on-the-fly spellchecking functionality in Opera. Perhaps in the future...

Hope it helps,
David
