[OU] [Feature request] passwd to protect opera mailer

I second Malcolm's wish, although not for the same reason. The Opera startup time doesn't bother me too much - overall it's not much slower than other applications on my system (if it could be said to be slower at all). One use that I could see for being able to load the mailer separately after Opera had loaded is to activate the low-bandwidth mode. As it stands, you can't activate low bandwidth mode until Opera has started, yet once Opera has started it immediately begins checking email. There are ways around that and likely different usage patterns for low-bandwidth mode, but I think it'd be pretty nifty.

I'm also not sure what the benefit of having the mailer integrated is. Netscape Navigator (from way back when) kept Navigator (the browser) and Communicator (the email client) separate. IE and Outlook are separate; Firefox and Thunderbird are separate; Safari and Mail are separate. I enjoy being able to have inboxes, RSS, and composed messages as tabs within the browser, but I'm not sure that I'd totally miss those features if M2 could run in its own, somewhat separate instance. Does anyone else have any thoughts about that?

Happy Holidays,
David
