Well, that may be so, but they did say "We recommend that you make a 
clean install and copy over your profile data (but not your 
preferences file) if you'd like to test the upgrade procedure". But 
maybe I should have paid more attention to the end of that sentence, 
since I seem to have either overlooked it or misunderstood it. That's 
the trouble with semi-novices.
