Frankly, I don't think so.

When the remote server closes the connection, it is the server that has
reached a maximum number of open connections and not your browser. The
"maximum connections to server" setting in your browser simply limits the
number of http - requests to any one server the browser is allowed to handle
simultaneously and nothing else. If the number of objects to fetch exceeds
that limit, the browser simply loads these objects sequentially.
The main reason to limit the number of open connections in your browser is a
lack of memory in your client...
