Yeah ! ! !
Full-width message list is my third most urgent wish for The Bat. I
wish the account tree could simply be toggled on and off with a single
key keyboard shortcut, as for instance in Opera browser's email
client. You press F4 in Opera, and you see the overview of mail
folders on the left-hand side of the screen. You press F4 again, and
the folders tree disappears, leaving you with a full-width message
list & preview window. This is what The Bat! sorely lacks. (And no,
Folder View, although a great arrangement for other occasions, is not
the same thing.)
Just goes to show that The Bat! developers would do well to learn even
from such apparently flimsy email software as Opera's mail client.
Another fantastic thing in Opera's mailer is the host of single-key
keyboard shortcuts. Try to compare them to The Bat!'s unusable
keyboard shorcuts of the type ALT+~+}... (For instance, [ and ] are in
different places depending on which national keyboard layout you use,
and if you switch between 4 national keyboard layouts every 15 minutes
or so as I do, you must give up the idea of ever being able to
efficiently use keyboard shortcuts of the type CTRL+].)
Nevertheless, if you're multilingual or in love with an unlimited
number of macro-driven customizable reply templates, you can't
seriously contemplate using Opera's mailer (which is monolingual and
customizable to a very limited degree), and so you have to stick with
The Bat.
