I ran an "lsof" on my opera 'cause it was non-responsive (and I thought
related to the DNS issue discussed earlier).
What I saw was Opera not having any more FDs to play with:
$ sudo lsof -p 12769 | tail
opera 12769 kenny 1014r REG 8,5 3029 152046 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APX3
opera 12769 kenny 1015r REG 8,5 3783 152055 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APX7
opera 12769 kenny 1016r REG 8,5 3374 152034 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APWX
opera 12769 kenny 1017r REG 8,5 4189 350290 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APY4
opera 12769 kenny 1018r REG 8,5 3415 153312 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APXA
opera 12769 kenny 1019r REG 8,5 2631 153362 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APXQ
opera 12769 kenny 1020r REG 8,5 3160 817294 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APYT
opera 12769 kenny 1021r REG 8,5 3357 116951 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0APWL
opera 12769 kenny 1022r REG 8,5 2316 139849596 /usr/share/opera/ini/xmlentities.ini
opera 12769 kenny 1023r REG 8,5 78092 1740319 /home/kenny/.opera/cache4/opr0AHI3
----
I've attached the entire lsof, as well. How'd this happen?
