[Opera-Linux] build 1629: The GTK file chooser is used under Xfce - NOT working

Dear Opera developers,
Regarding the previous build I reported that the GTK file chooser
wasn't used when running Xfce on Gentoo. The next build (that is, the
current one: build 1629) included a fix to this issue:
"UNIX-specific: The GTK file chooser is used under XFCE".
It does not work, however. I still get the old QT3 file chooser.
I imagine that Opera has a hard determining the Desktop Environment
currently running. It may be a problem of env variables. Instead of
GDM, I use SLiM [1] as a login-manager. And I am pretty sure it
exports none. There is also a better method to determine whether Xfce
is running [2], but is this the one used by Opera?
So, how does Opera determine that a user is running Xfce as a DE?
